THE DODO 4 + 1
The Dodo is best described as a modern day McCoy Nugget…or indeed pear shaped, but with a lot more bells and whistles. The Dodo being an “arse-centric” plan shape gives away to the probability of it sporting a deep single fin, but the 2 + 1 mode is growing in popularity and this model fits the bill perfectly. Combining this mode with another- that being a quad the fin positions compliment perfectly in that the positions of the side bights up front in 2+1 mode are also the perfect position for the front fins in quad mode.
The Dodo also supports the cathedral hull design proven in some of my past designs which then runs into a central concave then into a long deep tail vee so as to rock that fat arse from rail to rail easily even if you have pigmy feet. Lastly the 4 short grip channels etched out the round tail are there simply to add a tad more claw to this barge arsed bird…!
DIMS 7.2 x 22 x 2 13/16 = 54 LTS
ROCKER- Very low nose entry with more tail lift added.
BOTTOM – Cathedral Hull into concave into tail vee with channels
PLANSHAPE- Pear shaped
TAIL- Round tail
RAILS – Low pinched
Hi Murray
Hope you are having a great holiday.
I have been surfing the Dodo a lot the board goes great in 1 foot or six foot waves, this is a very versatile board. I have surfed it as a quad on the points lots of hold and speed for carving turns also went really nice in the pocket , the rocker allowed me to get vertical with the extra bite from the tail channel’s. I surfed it as a single with stabilisers I used an 8 inch fin nice hold great drive and down the line speed and very playful in the pocket. Next I surfed it with with some larger front fins and a 6” rear centre fin more like a thruster this allowed me to surf the board very vertical I was pleasantly surprised. The Dodo seems to work well with whichever fin set up you choose for the type of wave you want to ride. The board is fun in small waves with great nose riding capabilities, it glides over fatter sections with ease.
The board seems to handle any type of wave you choose to surf, a super fun board with a mix of personalities you just need a large packet of fins to choose from.
Ciao
